Detailed step by step installation

To install ASAP Utilities, follow these instructions. Installation is even more detailed described in the User Guide (PDF).

Prior to installing

You must be logged in as an administrator or as a member of the Power Users group to run the setup or you can choose to run the setup as administrator. When the installation is finished every user on the computer is able to use ASAP Utilities.
It is not recommended to uninstall a previous version of ASAP Utilities. If you do so all settings will be reset to the default settings, such as your favorite tools menu and your registration information (license key).
It is strongly recommended that all programs currently running on your PC be closed.
You only need to change these values if you encounter problems; If you have Excel 2003 or 2007, make sure your Security Level is not set to "Very High" before you run the setup. With this "Very High" setting you will not be able to use ASAP Utilities. In the Excel 2003 menu choose: Tools > Macro > Security and set it to high in that case. In Excel 2007 choose: Office button > Excel options > Trust Center > Trust Center Settings, then choose "Disable all macros except digitally signed macros" or "Disable all macros with notification". This is also described in chapter 3.4 of the User Guide.

Performing the installation

Step 1

Download the installation file and double-click it. The installation wizard begins and the welcome dialog is displayed. Click on the Next-button to continue.

Step 2

The License Agreement dialog is displayed. Please take time to read the licence agreement. If you agree choose "I accept the agreement" and then click on the Next-button. If you disagree with the license terms, choose "I do not accept the agreement". If you do not accept the agreement the installation will not continue.

Step 3

An information dialog is displayed. Click the Next-button to continue.

Step 4

Select a folder to install ASAP Utilities. We recommend you use the default folder, "C:\Program Files\ASAP Utilities\" but any other location can be used too.
ASAP Utilities requires approximately 12 MB of disk space.
If you have a previous version of ASAP Utilities installed, select that folder (the setup-program should detect it though), usually this is "C:\Program Files\ASAP Utilities\". If you are not sure about that location you can see it in ASAP Utilities. Start Excel and then in the menu choose ASAP Utilities » ASAP » Options
Click the Next-button to continue.

Step 5

If you want to ASAP Utilities will create an entry in your start menu. Click the Next-button to continue.

Step 6

If you want everyone on the computer to be able to use ASAP Utilities choose "Yes". Click the Next-button to continue.
This will automatically add ASAP Utilities to the Excel menu for each user that logs in on the computer. This is also handy when you log in with normal user-rights and run the setup as an administrator.

Step 7

Click "install" to install the files to the selected folder.

The setup program will begin to install files.

The setup will show you what is new in this version:

All files are now copied to your hard disk. Click the finish button.

Step 10

In the menu you will find a new item called "ASAP Utilities". If you don't see ASAP Utilities in the menu, run through steps 3 to 6 of the Manual installation.

The installation is finished and you are ready to use ASAP Utilities. If you choose to create a start-menu folder in step 5 a new program folder called "ASAP Utilities" is created in your start menu:

Step 11: Make ASAP Utilities the full registered version

In the Excel menu choose ASAP Utilities > Unregistered version

Excel 2000, 2002/XP and 2003 Excel 2007
Click on the button "Enter registration information"
Fill in the fields exactly as used when you placed your order. You received two emails after the order was completed. The email from "ASAP Utilities (A Must in Every Office BV)" contains the full license information.
After you entered the information click on the "Register" button.
We recommend you to use "copy and paste" to avoid typing errors. The information is case sensitive. You can use the shortcut Control+V to paste the information in the fields.
